Recent Cases Won by Keith Short

Nov. 2009: Medical malpractice claim settles for $175,000.00.  Keith Short settles an Illinois Medical malpractice claim for injury to the plaintiff’s wrist.


Feb., 2010:  Workers’ Compensation case settles for $290,000.00.  Keith Short settled a case for an employee who injured his neck during the course of his employment.  Employee was advised to have surgery but chose not to.  In addition to the $290,000.00 in a lump sum settlement, Short was also able to secure an addition $40,000.00 for future medical treatment pursuant to a fully funded Medicare Set-aside account.


Feb., 2010: Workers’ Compensation case settles for $190,000.00  Spinal injury.  Employer paid additional $240,000 in medical bills and $38,000 for future medical bills. 


April, 2010:  Workers’ Compensation verdict for employee:  In an emergency hearing Keith Short prevailed, proving that his client’s shoulder injury was work related.  Arbitrator awarded TTD benefits and ordered insurance company to pay for surgery.  Client is nearing maximum medical improvement and settlement on all issues is pending.


April, 2010: Workers’ Compensation verdict for employee:  Keith Short prevailed in a disputed elbow surgery claim. 


May, 2010:  Workers’ Compensation case settles for $500,000.00:  Keith Short settled an Illinois workers’ compensation case proving his client’s Parkinson’s Disease was caused or aggravated by his exposure to welding fumes on the job.  Research suggests this is the first time Parkinson’s Disease was tied to employment exposure.  This settlement was in addition to a separate fund for future medical expenses.


May, 2010: Workers’ Compensation case settles for $75,000.00

June, 2010: Workers’ Compensation case settles after trial.  $72,000.00


July, 2010: Medical Malpractice case settles for undisclosed amount:  Keith Short and Noel Smith resolve  a failure to timely diagnose cancer case.


Sept., 2010: Workers’ Compensation case settles for $80,000.00.  Client’s un-operated shoulder case settles despite being denied by the insurance company.


Oct. 2010: Auto accident jury awards injured driver $175,000.00.  Keith Short received a jury verdict for a client injured while swerving his car to avoid the defendants’ horses.  

Nov. 2010: Wrongful death case settles for confidential amount. Keith Short and co-counsel settle a Missouri wrongful death case.  The settlement was kept confidential by all parties.

Nov. 2010: Retaliatory discharge lawsuit settles in Madison County.  At the request of the Defendant, the amount is kept confidential.
